Create a great first impression! A well-landscaped front yard can go a long way. When planning, be sure you are choosing landscape options that compliment your home. Some things to consider are:
Style - Choose products, colours & angles that work well with the style of your home. Ex.-Simple, clean lines with right angles work well with contemporary homes, while an inviting curved pathway nicely compliments a more classic style home.
Proportions - Choose landscape designs based on the shape and size of your home and yard. Ex.-If you have a modest sized front yard, it wouldn’t hurt to keep the landscape features on the smaller side so it doesn't look crowded/busy. On the other hand, if your front yard is spacious, consider keeping the design proportional to the space and don’t be afraid to go with bigger features, such as natural boulders or larger trees & garden beds.
Focal Point - For most homes, the front entrance is the focal point. Adding a clean & inviting walkway/steps to the front door, for example, is a nice way of framing it and making it more attractive. Perhaps you prefer to make your driveway the main focal point? Replacing an old concrete driveway with paving stone, creates an eye-catching look that greatly enhances any home’s curb appeal.
